1000th post

Today is a major milestone, this is my 1000th post on the blog!

This morning the alarm was going, but my brain wasn't registering the sound and Cathi woke me up.  Sorry Cath!

I was in the water at 0515 and did:

3000 - 3 x 1000's free on 15:00
100 easy
then joined masters:
400 Drills (1 arm fly, touch and pull)
I was in a lane with Josh and Tim.
400 Freestyle
400 - 4 x 100's favorite stroke(free) on 1:20
300 kick with fins
300 - 6 x 75's  second favorite stroke (one arm fly on first and last 25 and full fly on middle 25) on 1:15
200 pull
400 - 8 x 50's 3rd favorite (back) on :45
100 free
250 - 10 x 25's least liked stroke (breast) on :25

200 IM all out!
I've never timed my 200 IM.  I was thinking getting under 3:00 was reasonable and was my goal.  I ended up going 2:42.  Felt really good about that.
200 cooldown

Masters work done and followed up on my own with:

2000 pull easy
4000 - 4 x 1000's free on 15:00

Total: 12,250 yards in 3:30

Today's workout was fantastic!  Felt good the whole time.

Congrats on the big 1,000. It's incredible to me how many yards you can pump out in a given day. In open water I can do more than I think I'm capable of, but there's something restricting that keeps me from going long distances in a pool. And when I read your blog posts, it amazes me that you can do it on a regular basis.

Thanks Matt.

Truth is, I LOVE Egg Salad sandwiches. The only way I allow myself to get one from the Deli on the way to work is if I put in more than 10K that morning.

Plus I'm a very simple minded dude. Lots of people ask, "Don't you get bored". No. I just let my mind wander while my arms just keep churning. Yet, keep track of my distance by 50's and keeping an eye on the big digital clock to make sure I'm keeping pace.

I love the fall season. Get lots of time in the pool, also get to spend some quality time with some speed demons in Masters.

1,000 posts is great! You inspire me with your workouts. I'm just starting to work on other strokes aside from freestyle and its a lot of fun. Gives a little spice to the workout.
I'm so grateful for swimming because with my fibromyalgia it is the only sport I can participate in without a lot of pain. Thankfully it is the one sport I love! I love the feeling of flying in the water.
